What money is & money exchange
Money
is basically an exchange. It works because everyone accepts it
as payment for goods, like the weekly shopping, or services, like
a haircut.
We didn't always use money. In the past, people used shells, beads, furs and skins.
Even today people sometimes choose not to use money and 'barter' instead. For example, if you babysit for your neighbours, they may not pay you but offer to babysit for you next time.
